American Mah Jongg (2022 NMJL card). Various Charleston quandaries.
1. Is that a garbage hand? Or is it the start of W-D #4? Sevens in each suit, and nines and an eight. Let's pass twos and a three or four.
2. Two pairs: sixes and sevens, with lots of near-number neighbors. Low numbers are expendable.
3. Could go 369 or high Consec. No need to stop; pass 1C 2C 5D.
4. Consec #1 and Consec #5 both look decent, but that leaves us three tiles we can pass: F S G.
5. Six tiles for Consec #1, and six tiles (two ways) for Consec #3. 8C and 5B are obvious, but choosing a third passer is a toughie. I like the odds of making Consec #3 better. 6D or 7D will have to go. Make it the 7D. It's times like this one wishes one had stopped the Charleston.
6. Those sevens and nines are very friendly. The twos don't go with. The soaps don't work for 13579, but they can work for Like Numbers. If you passed twos and a soap, you're practically handing a 2022 hand to your opposite. Let's ditch the twos and 8B.
7. Could go high Odds or Like Numbers. 1C and S can go. Offer two.
8. A couple ways you could go here; you could offer three (5D, 7D, and 1B) or just one (1B). Personally, with these tiles I'd rather focus on 369 (no particular hand in mind). But if you want to keep Consec #1 as an option, that's your prerogative.
